What do we do outside of home visiting? We offer play groups and parent participation activities to support the family’s goals and development. There are opportunities throughout the year for families to engage in parent/child activities that include: Engineering Extravaganza, Book Walk, Family Picnic and Paint Party.
There are also opportunities for parents to learn about specific topics such as Safe Sleep, Dental, Health and Safety, Parent Café, as well as parent advocacy opportunities through Parent Advisory Board Meetings and Opening Doors/Abriendo Puertas Groups. These groups provide parents with opportunities to share experiences, especially for new parents or parents new to the community.
Ms. Amy states, “My experience as a parent educator has been incredibly rewarding. I have had the opportunity to work with a variety of families in the community who have children aged prenatal to three. Seeing families feeling empowered in their parenting skills and children’s education has been the most gratifying experience.” Ms. Sarah continues, “Being a parent educator means you have the incredible opportunity to empower families with knowledge, strengthen parent-child relationships, and help shape a brighter future—one family at a time.
