This week, during National Volunteer Appreciation Week, we thank all of the outstanding volunteers who generously give their time and energy to support our students, teachers, and schools. Whether you’re organizing events, helping in classrooms, mentoring students, reading one-on-one, supporting field experiences, or contributing in your own unique way — your presence makes a lasting impact. No matter how you give your time, please know that it truly matters, and we are incredibly grateful for you.

As someone who spent many years volunteering in my own children's classrooms, I know the impact of simply showing up. You don’t do it for the spotlight — you do it to help however you can. For me this was often laminating materials, working on math skills, and endless weeks of helping kids count change (and agreeing that, yes, it would be easier if change was smallest to largest based on its value). I saw firsthand how much it means to both students and staff to have an extra pair of hands and a caring adult nearby.

Our volunteers are an essential part of what makes our schools strong. You remind our students that they are surrounded by people who believe in them; not just in words, but through your actions.

So to every volunteer — from parents to local partners to extended family members — thank you. Thank you for showing up, for pitching in, and for being part of our team. You are helping shape our schools into places of connection, belonging, and joy.

We look forward to celebrating you in person at our annual Volunteer Celebration on May 21st at the beautiful Nicholas Conservatory. It will be a relaxed evening of community, connection, and appreciation. Please be sure to RSVP by completing this brief form: 2025 Volunteer Celebration

With gratitude,
