Recently, the Early Childhood Family Services Team participated in a day of giving back to the community through Rockford Area Habitat for Humanity. Staff members donned hard hats and tool belts as they rolled up their sleeves and assisted in the construction of one of the homes that Habitat is currently building.
This is the third year that the EC Family Services team has participated in this team building activity. Staff shared their reflections on their time working together on this project.
Michele Johnson, EC PI Screening and Placement: "I love this time of year that we get to come together as a team. It's an opportunity to get to know each other on a personal level and deepen our relationships and build a stronger community."
Anna Karvelius, EC Family Support: "It's a wonderful time for our Family Services team to come together and volunteer and give back to our community."
Balbina Holder, EC Parent Educator: "This was my first time working with the team on this project. It was a positive experience. I learned a lot about what it takes for families to get a home through this process. I want to go into the community and see what else I can do to support this process more."
