Marianna Ruggerio

The White House announced the newest 336 awardees for the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) this week, and we’re proud to share that Auburn High School Physics Teacher Marianna Ruggerio is among them!

Since 1983, the PAEMST program has been administered by the National Science Foundation (NSF) on behalf of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. This prestigious award honors outstanding teachers nationwide for their contributions to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education.

Nominees go through a rigorous application process, showcasing their deep content knowledge and ability to engage diverse learners in varied teaching environments. A panel of distinguished mathematicians, scientists, and educators evaluates applications at both the state and national levels before recommending finalists to the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP).

Winners are selected for their excellence in the classroom and dedication to improving STEM education. Each awardee receives a certificate signed by the President, a $10,000 award from NSF, and the opportunity to attend an awards ceremony in Washington, D.C., at a future date.
