Starting a new tradition! Every Friday our basketball teams will participate in "High Five Fridays." Students at our feeder schools will get these warm welcomes to their day from the high schoolers.



Guilford SALT spent some time reading with new kinder buddies in Mrs. Rabon's class at Spring Creek this morning. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their time together!




This week's Athletes of the Week
Stella Seminerio (Swimming) - Stella achieved an impressive personal best in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:11.66, securing a victory against Byron, a sectional powerhouse. At the Cougar Sprint Meet, she dominated the 50 fly with another personal best of 28.94, dropping 1.01 seconds.
Landon Bachta (Cross Country) - Landon finished 5th in the NIC-10 conference meet and has been an outstanding runner for his four years on varsity.

Alaina Wahler (Swimming)- Had a remarkable performance at the J-Hawk Invite. Participating in multiple events, she recorded personal bests (PB) in both the 50-yard and 100-yard breaststroke, as well as in the 200-yard individual medley (IM). Notably, she finished 8th in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:20.31, improving her personal record by 3.1%, and secured 9th place in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:40.13, showing consistent progress in her performances.

Good luck to the Guilford's Girls Varsity Flag Football team as they play in the IHSA's inaugural State Finals today! The quarterfinals start at 4:30 @ Willowbrook High School in Villa Park. If the Lady Vikings advance, they'll play tomorrow at 12:30. If they lose, the 3rd place game follows @ 2. Championship game is @ 4. You can check out Saturday's games live on WSLN 19.2. 13th annual Academy Expo: This event provided an opportunity for 2,000 9th graders to engage with 100 area businesses to explore potential career opportunities. It helps forge a relevant link between student curriculum & future careers. Students will utilize this event to make an academy selection.











A Viking’s View: Check out the new roof at Guilford High School! Architect Richard L Johnson Associates & contractor Sterling Commercial Roofing worked together to demolish 200-thousand square feet of the existing roofing (all but the fieldhouse addition) & replace it with a new roofing system. The project started at the end of March & was completed in September. It looks great!

To celebrate National School Lunch Week, RPS 205 is holding a contest to see who can make the most creative chicken sandwich. The students who create winning chicken sandwiches will win an iPad and their sandwiches will be featured on the menu in the Spring Semester! Please turn in your work of art to the kitchen team in your school's cafeteria between October 14-18. We can't wait to see the delicious combinations you draw up!
