Eilken wrestles at the state final

Jefferson High School sophomore Kylie Eilken placed seventh in the 190-pound weight class at the IHSA Girls Individual State Finals. She advanced through the tournament with multiple wins and secured a spot on the podium.

State Tournament Results On March 1, Eilken lost a 12-7 decision to I. Peralta of Oak Forest in the semifinal and third-place wrestleback rounds, finishing seventh overall.

On February 28, she won two matches, pinning S. Kinsella of Maple Park (Kaneland) in 3:07 during the second wrestleback round and N. Mahon-Godfrey of Chicago (Kelly) in 2:39 during the quarterfinal and first wrestleback rounds. She lost in the first round to P. Temple of Clifton (Central) by fall in 1:48.

Sectional Tournament Results At the IHSA Girls Sectional in Geneseo on February 15, Eilken won four matches and lost two, securing qualification for the state tournament.

She won by fall against L. Tunk of Sterling in 1:37 in the consolation semifinals and A. Lundgren of Macomb in 4:50 in the semifinal and wrestleback rounds. She also won against V. Rodriguez of DeKalb in 2:37 in the second wrestleback round and O. Monroe of Jacksonville in 48 seconds in the round of 16.

She lost to M. Congo of Morris by fall in 1:21 in the quarterfinals and A. Haywood of Rockford (Guilford) by fall in 4:37 in a placement match.

Season Summary Eilken’s performance at the sectional tournament earned her a spot at the state tournament, where she placed seventh. Her season included multiple wins and strong showings in both tournaments.
