The Chicagoland 4x5 Exhibition is billed as the largest "small" art exhibit in the nation; all of the work in the show is confined within a 4" x 5" space and separated into categories by media & level. This year, the show included artwork from 60 participating middle & high schools - totaling nearly 3000 pieces of artwork. On Wednesday, November 6, Ms. Kassi Brooks, CAPA Visual Art Instructor at CAPA West and Ms. Elizabeth Wood, CAPA Visual Art Instructor at Auburn High School, traveled to Oswego High School in Chicago to attend this year's show & awards ceremony with 35 middle & high school students.
Among the students recognized for their outstanding work, nine CAPA students received honorable mentions for their artwork:
Mollie Hargan, 7th Grade, West CAPA
Solars Zuk, 7th Grade, West CAPA
Jack Koppen, 11th Grade, Auburn CAPA
Kegan Oehlke, 10th Grade, Auburn CAPA

Congratulations to West Middle School PE teacher Mr. Nick Blitch for being named 97ZOK's Teacher of the Week! https://97zokonline.com/teacher-of-the-week-nick-blitch/

Principal Appreciation Day: This annual recognition was first approved by Illinois' Governor in 1990. We took pictures of our principals at our 41 schools & asked students to draw them for us. Here are some of their works of art. Thank you all RPS 205 Principals!

The Youth Story Ledger was held at Flinn Middle School. It’s an event where 6-12 grade students from Flinn, Marshall, West, and Auburn shared personal narratives with the community. These stories offer deep insights into their lives, experiences, & dreams, challenging negative biases & showcasing resilience, bravery, & intelligence. By sharing their stories, students empower themselves & foster understanding & empathy within our community. This year, the Youth Story Ledger was able to expand through a grant from the Golden Apple Foundation of Rockford.

Have a great day!
